Why People Believe Anything but God

In a world where people believe in conspiracy theories, aliens, karma, and even the power of the universe, many still struggle to believe in God, Jesus as God in human form, and the resurrection. Why is that? And how does rejecting these truths impact our lives?
The irony is that many are quick to accept ideas that have little to no evidence while rejecting the foundational truths of Christianity, which are supported by historical, logical, and personal evidence. Let’s explore why people resist belief in God and Jesus—and why the evidence actually supports faith in Him.
Why People Believe Anything but God
People often reject the existence of God not because of lack of evidence but because of personal, emotional, or societal reasons. Here are some common reasons:
A. They Don’t Want to Be Accountable
If God is real, that means He has authority, and people would need to align their lives with His will. Many prefer to believe in a random universe rather than a Creator who calls them to live righteously (Romans 1:18-21).
B. Science and Faith Are Seen as Opposing Forces
Some assume that science has disproven God, but in reality, many of the greatest scientific minds—Isaac Newton, Francis Collins, and Albert Einstein—believed in God. Science explains how things work but doesn’t answer why they exist in the first place.
C. Cultural and Peer Pressure
We live in a world where believing in "the universe" or vague spirituality is more acceptable than believing in Jesus. Society often encourages belief in anything but absolute truth.
D. Pain and Suffering
Some reject God because of the pain they’ve experienced, wondering, "If God is good, why does suffering exist?" However, the Bible teaches that suffering is a result of sin in the world, not God’s lack of love (John 16:33).
The Evidence for God, Jesus, and the Resurrection
Despite objections, the evidence for God, Jesus as God in human form, and the resurrection is overwhelming.
A. The Evidence for God
The Universe Had a Beginning (Cosmological Argument)
Science confirms the universe had a starting point. Something outside of time, space, and matter had to cause it—a Creator.
Design in Nature (Teleological Argument)
The human body, DNA, and the fine-tuning of the universe show intelligent design. Things don’t randomly become more complex and functional—they require a designer (Psalm 19:1).
The Moral Law (Moral Argument)
Every culture recognizes right and wrong. Where does that come from? If there’s no God, then morality is subjective. But if morality is real, there must be a moral lawgiver.
B. The Evidence That Jesus Is God in Human Form
Jesus Made Direct Claims to Be God
He said, "Before Abraham was, I AM" (John 8:58) – using the very name of God.
He said, "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30).
He Fulfilled Over 300 Prophecies
Isaiah 53 describes Jesus' death 700 years before He was born. The statistical chance of one man fulfilling all these prophecies is virtually impossible—unless He is truly God.
His Miracles Confirmed His Identity
Jesus healed the blind, raised the dead, and commanded nature (John 21:25). Even non-Christian sources record His miracles.
C. The Evidence for the Resurrection
The Empty Tomb
If Jesus didn’t rise, where is His body? The tomb was heavily guarded, and His enemies would have produced a body if they could.
Eyewitness Testimonies
Over 500 people saw the risen Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:3-6). These weren’t hallucinations—people don’t hallucinate in groups.
The Disciples’ Transformation
The disciples went from cowards to bold preachers who were willing to die for their faith. People don’t die for something they know is a lie.
What Rejecting God and the Resurrection Means for Your Life
If Jesus rose from the dead, it changes everything. It means:
There is truth beyond personal opinion.
There is hope beyond this life.
There is purpose beyond temporary success.
Rejecting Jesus means choosing to live without hope, forgiveness, and eternal life. Accepting Him means walking in truth, love, and the promise of eternity (John 14:6).
The Truth Is There—Will You Believe?
People will believe in energy, luck, or the universe’s plan while rejecting God—despite overwhelming evidence. But truth isn’t based on what’s popular; it’s based on reality.
The question is not "Is there enough evidence to believe?"—but rather, "Are you willing to believe?"
Jesus is alive! Will you accept the truth and follow Him?
